I can hardly believe that three months has zoomed by since the last newsletter. Where does the time go? But, what an exciting time it is, for both Hudson and Hudson's fans.
Since
the recent airing of the "Sacrifice" episodes on Xena: Warrior
Princess, I have been receiving a lot of mail from people wanting to know
if indeed this really is the permanent demise of Callisto. As anyone who
has watched Xena or Hercules for any amount of time can attest to, who
ever really knows when someone's time has finally come to an end? Both
series have been known to bring people back from the dead more often than
the airing of "I Love Lucy" repeats, not to mention using the
same actors and actresses to play numerous parts in both series. But, in
answer to your question, yes, this is the end of Callisto and Hudson's
appearances on Xena and Hercules, at least for now. As for what the future
will bring? No one *really* knows!
I know that there has been ample speculation about who's decision it was to end the Goddess Callisto's reign, Hudson's or the people involved with Xena and Hercules. I can honestly assure you that it was a *mutually* agreed upon decision between Hudson and the people involved with Xena and Hercules. Hudson loves Callisto as much as we do, and everyone involved with Xena and Hercules love working with Hudson, but as has already been stated many times in recent months there is just so much that can be done with Callisto's character without it becoming the "Callisto Warrior Queen" show.
Which I'm sure many of you are saying, right now, "Yeah, that sounds like a great idea. Give Callisto her own series." But again, how many times can Callisto kill, kill, kill before the story lines all start to look like the never-ending "Friday the 13th" movies. And if Callisto is "reformed", as many of you think she should be, then the show would be nothing more than a blonde Xena: Warrior Princess. Even though Xena has done very well, I don't think the public really wants to see two Xena's.
Also, Hudson would like to see what else is available at this point in her career and possibly pursue other endeavors. And who can blame her? With her talent and abilities there are numerous directions that she could go in and should have the opportunity to do so. But, she can't possibly do anything if she is committed to Xena and Hercules, even as a reoccurring guest star.
We will all mourn the passing of Callisto as one of the greatest villainesses of all time. But, instead of waging a battle against TPTB (the powers that be) or those people involved with Xena and Hercules to bring Callisto back, I'm sure that Hudson would be a lot more appreciative if we would all encourage her and be supportive of whatever she decides to do. As much as we will all miss Callisto, even Hudson, it doesn't serve a positive purpose to dwell on what is already done and past. And done pretty damn well, I might add. (Hell, who else, but Hudson, could have turned a role originally scheduled for one appearance on Xena into a 13 episode run on both Xena and Hercules?)
So, instead of us sitting around mourning the passing of Callisto, let us, as Hudson's *loyal* fans, show Hudson how much we truly appreciate her and her work, and more importantly be positive, encouraging, reassuring and offer moral support for whatever she chooses to do in the future. Let's look forward to all the possibilities that are out there for such a wonderfully talented and gifted actress such as Hudson. We all know that Hudson is destined for greatness...It's just a matter of time! So, let's help her achieve her destiny. :)
Once again, I would like to thank *everyone* who contributed to this issue of the newsletter. I know I keep saying that it couldn't be done without you, but it's the absolute truth! Without each and every one of your contributions, there would be no newsletter. So, a *big* "thank you" to everyone who helped make this newsletter possible. Quite honestly, I think that we have some of the most talented and imaginative people around. And the contents of all the Hudson Leick newsletters are proof enough of this fact.
Enjoy.....

On Hudson's birthday, May 9, 1998, the Hudson Leick Official Fan Club Maintenance Team opened the new HLOFCWS (Hudson Leick Official Fan Club Web Site) interface, in celebration of Hudson's birthday. Not only does the web site have a new interface, it now also contains some new features and specials not found on the old page such as a Guestbook and Art Gallery.
The photo and sound galleries have been organized in a directory-tree like manner, which is much easier to navigate and keep track of. The video section has been updated, which now contains over 150MB of video sample files, as well.
But most of the changes to the site are more along the lines of graphical changes, and a lot of reorganizing in a much more professional manner. We are still working on new features for the site that will be implemented as we write the scripts for them. And we will continue working on additional new features for a long time to come.
We recommend browsing around the new page to see all of the new graphics and features. Hudson Leick Official Fan Club and Web Site: [http://www.hudsonleickfan.com]
We would like to thank everyone for supporting the new HLOFC web site. Since the new page was implemented on Hudson's birthday, the site now averages just under 500 hits per day, on the main page alone, and over 30,000 total average hits to the entire page, transferring nearly 1 gig of data daily. The page wouldn't be the success it is if it weren't for everyone showing their strong support for Hudson and the HLOFC.
Yep,
Hudson is on the road again...Those of you who have not yet had the opportunity
to see Hudson in person, or those of you who have seen Hudson in person
and know what a totally awesome experience it is to see her "live,
up close and personal" and would like to see her again, here is your
chance.
The following three conventions are sponsored by Creation. Ticket prices, ordering instructions and all other information can be obtained by logging on to Creation's Web Site at: [www.creationent.com]
Please be advised that all tickets purchased through Creation are NON REFUNDABLE. In the event that Hudson should have to cancel any appearance due to obligations or commitments that should arise, unbeknownst to her at this time, no refunds will be given by Creation for tickets already purchased. We are *not* saying that there is any possibility that this will happen, but we want everyone to be forewarned.
As the convention dates get closer, and the HLOFC and Hudson make plans for these conventions, we will be sure and keep everyone updated.

Why I'm Subscribed to
the Hudson Leick Mailing List
(or: Why the Heck Are There So Many Buffy Posts on the HLML?)
Written By: Kevin C. Wong [jahn@csua.berkeley.edu]
This article is not about Ms. Leick, or Callisto, or any of her other roles, or her dogs, or our hopes and dreams for Ms. Leick' career, (or her dogs' careers for that matter) or about seeing/meeting Ms. Leick, or any of many other things that I've read about in the last couple of months about Ms. Leick. (And for those of you wondering, I'm not trying to break the record for either article title length or article sentence length) There are enough of those articles around and I don't think I could add anything constructive and/or original. What I'm going to do is waste some space to write about the Hudson Leick Mailing List.
Why do people subscribe to mailing lists? I suppose it's for some naive expectation that there will be other people who want to discuss matters dealing with the mailing list's subject. Nothing could be farther from the truth! A mailing list is a place to meet other people who have an interest in a common subject. But from there the discussions can go anywhere to the point where you forget what the mailing list is about.
Ok, I lied. In every mailing list, people do stick to the list's subject matter. If you just want to discuss Spam (tm), then just subscribe to the Spam (tm) mailing list and be assured that almost every post will deal with Spam (tm). (Not that I know if there is a Spam (tm) mailing list, but there must be a list dedicated to that delicious luncheon meat, err, processed protein matter.) Correction, in every mailing list excepting the Hudson Leick Mailing List. (I've only subscribed to a dozen or so mailing lists, so there probably are other exceptions. As my Biology teacher once said in class "in Biology, Nature has an exception for every rule." Hence why I didn't Major in Biology.)
Recent discussions on the HLML included: analysis/commentary on Ms. Leick's May 11 chat, analysis/commentary on XWP:Sacrifice 1 & 2, analysis/commentary on what motivates Callisto with regards to Xena, analysis/commentary on female stereo-types and Callisto as pertains to HTLJ:Surprise, and a few others that I can't recall. There were also posts on: conventions (and who's going to which one), Happy Birthday messages, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the Cirran Restoration Society (HLML section), Merlin (for a week), lots of Xena stuff not dealing with Callisto, who loves Kevin Sorbo the most (I won't name any names), and other miscellaneous topics.
Personally, I like reading all of the posts, both topic and off-topic ones. For the most part it's more like listening to a conversation. I like to hear people talk about stuff they care about, whether it's Callisto's death or Godzilla. People can ramble on about stuff that they like and eventually I get to know them a little better.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that the HLML is more like a group of friends talking at a club on Saturday night. Sometimes it's serious, sometimes it's not. You don't have people trying to censor off-topic posts (at least not like a lot of other mailing lists). It's the only mailing list I've been on where Happy Birthday messages are common (well, I do initiate some of those). It's the only mailing list where I've had desire to post messages and contribute. It's a community.
So if you want to join a community (of 136 subscribers as of mid-May) try out the Hudson Leick Mailing List. It has moderate traffic of 10-50 posts a day (you want a lot of posts, try DND-L). Just hang out and listen quietly or post your thoughts. Oh yeah, and we talk about Hudson Leick too.
-- Kevin (who wanted to write an insightful article but this is what came out)
Editors comment: If you would like to join the Hudson Leick Mailing List, which also has a daily Digest option so you can receive all the days messages in one convenient mail message, the complete instructions can be found at: http://www.hudsonleickfan.com/digest/ Instructions on how to join the mailing list are about halfway down the page.

Submitted for the tickling of your funnybone, this Q&A session is NOT, I repeat NOT something that has actually taken place. This is a filk or a spoof...what I sometimes *wish* Hudson would say.
Q: Hudson, where were you born? What were your early years like?
A: I was born just outside of Cincinnati Ohio. Literally. We were on an interstate when my mother went into labor. See, my dad went down to West Virginia to visit some extended family; my uncle Roy who is a tent revivalist had a bad case of (of all things) the plague and it didn't look good for a faith healer to get the black death so anyway, my family went down there to see him. Well, my mom started going into labor and well, she has a real prejudice against Southerners. "I'll be God damned and go to Hell if any of my children will have West Virginia on their birth certificate." So, Dad piled all our stuff in the car and like a whale Hell-bent for the beach, they headed toward Ohio.
As for my early years, it was pretty normal. I was kind of a tomboy, got into fights, got in trouble for a few milk money shakedowns at the playground. The usual things girls back in Cinci do.
Q: Which leads to my next question, I hear high school was rather rough for you.
A: Well, it was rather hard, yes. I mean it was the 80's. As far as academically I was all right I guess. I was involved heavily in the Conversion-to-Metric Club, the Latin Club and FFA. --
Q: FFA?
A: Future Farmers of America. Anyway, the FFA and some non-academia clubs like GRHLARP.
Q: GRHLARP?
A: <sighs> Grand Rapids High Live Action Role Playing. Like Dungeons and Dragons but way cooler.
Q: Right. Okay, but I heard that you didn't get along with some of the students.
A: Oh, yeah, that. yeah I had a rough time there. I mean how can you be taken seriously in your Chemistry class during Science Fair Week giving a seminar on how the key to defeating AIDS was not in the method of fighting the virus as a "virus" but in attacking the recombinant RNA which replicates the virus with a high degree of mutability. *That's* the key. But like I said you can't be taken seriously while looking like an extra in a Madonna video. All the girls got hassled in the 80's. We looked like hell. Plus, as far as my topic, it was still considered a "gay cancer" and no one wanted to hear about it.
Q: Ok, um....uh...all right...what got you into acting?
A: My aunt Ruth pushed me into it. I had a pretty good gig while modeling in Japan. Nice place. Not like dirty cities like New York at all. Anyway, she had suggested it, made some calls etcetera...got me a job in Canada with the Spelling Corp. I don't regret doing it, but I just hate the fact that aunt Ruth used me like that.
Q: Used? How?
A: She saw my TV/Cinema career as a stepping stone for her to meet her idol, Ray Parker Jr.
Q: Ray Parker Jr.?
A: <blank stare> Yeah. "I ain't 'fraid of no ghosts." Ghostbusters? Ring any bells?
Q: Yeah, but--
A: She *loves* him. After her marriage was filed for dissolution, all she does is follow him around like a "Deadhead." Creepy. We don't talk often.
Q: I see. Okay. Well...let's see. Do you have an email account or surf the web?
A: Yeah, I have email. It's a yahoo account, but I keep it a secret. As far as the web, I like to hang out at the Weather Channel and I do some chatting at the WBS Gansta Rap section. There's a newsgroup I hang out on called alt.tv.simpsons that I just love.
Q: Right. Okay...<leafs through papers> Ok. Fastforward, now you've graduated, gotten the modeling career going, then you get the spot on University Hospital.
A: Well, it' snot quite like that. I did work earlier for Spelling Corp. You remember Charlie's Angels? I played the voice of Charlie. I had a very deep voice then. Some hormonal imbalance. I take pills to fix it. Pills and some herbs I grow in my closet. But yes, after the UH job I worked for the Knight Rider show, then Xena.
Q: Ok, Xena --
A: you mispronounced it. It's really pronounced more from the back of the throat, more glottal. Like Cthulhu.
Q: Zchgl-EE-nah <almost gags>
A: Yeah, if you wanna be authentic. So I got the Xena show.
Q: How did you get it?
A: The job? That's kinda complicated. See, when I was young I learned the fast way that it was a tough life when you excel at a specialty. See after I was born we moved to Maine where my dad was a fisherman. Well, he felt that everyone fished for lobster up there so he was going to create a niche for himself, by catching haddock. Well, needless to say, we went hungry a lot but I learned that when you wanted to do something bad enough you had to suffer. So, when it came time to try out for the Xena gig, I did my fair share of back stabbing, sleeping around and a few sacrificial stray pets later, I got the job.
Q: uh...er and now you're a household name. <nervous laugh> Funny how it was debated as to how to *pronounce* your name.
A: Yeah, <laughs>. it's pretty self explanatory really. Lee-ICK. Just how it's written.
Q: More Xena questions. Do you do your own stunts?
A: Yes, actually. Now I've moved on to doing Lucy's too. Since she's married Tapert she doesn't do much of anything. But the pay scale is a little better plus you don't have to buy your own lunch on the set if you're part of the Stunt guild.
Q: Really?
A: No, not really. You still have to pay.
Q: Oh, you were having fun with me weren't you?
A: I wasn't laughing at you, I was laughing for you.
Q: What is it like on the set? Is there a Mister Hudson who hangs out on the set?
A: Well, I was married once, well twice. In a quiet ceremony I was married to Larry King and Bronson Pinchot on different occasions. It turns out that Larry was still married so mine was null and void, and the one to Bronson was performed by a sea captain who wasn't far enough off shore to make it legal. Since then I've been seeing the guy who played Mikey on those Life commercials.
Q: Oh, I see. So, what is on tap for Hudson in the future?
A: Well, I've been begging for them to kill off Callisto for about a year now. So when that finally happens, I've got two more series lined up. One where I play a Nun who fights crime at night. The twist is, that the city is run by a "family" of vampires. It's called "BloodNun." My character is named Sister Mary Holywater. The other is also an action show where I have this amulet that I consult to help me in my job as a Dade County Florida violent crimes detective. The amulet is filled with the power of Bruce Lee. The show is called "Ninja Patrol." I'm very excited about it. There is also some hints that ABC TGIF will offer me a comedy about a high school girl, played by me, who wakes up one morning to find out that she has the ability to make anything happen. She literally wakes up with the powers of a god. It takes place in Wisconsin and is called "Holey Oley." But other than that, I'm going to take a break from all the conventions and appearances. I need a rest.
And with that, our Q&A interview with Hudson was over. It was time for her daily deep pore cleansing by sitting in a vat of mayo.

THE CAST
Goddess Callisto: GC
Hudson Leick: HL
Melissa (aka bard): MM
=====================
The bard - well not THAT bard, that bard has been gone for centuries - this bard, while not that bard, is still in fact a bard and one that has the dubious distinction of belonging to the Goddess Callisto...which in our humble opinion makes her either very special or very stupid...or a delicate combination thereof...but we digress. Anyway, she was resting comfortably, enjoying the few moments of peace she got each day when who should materialize before her but the Goddess Callisto.
MM: Could you move over, you're blocking my view.
GC: <frown> What - not even a flinch?
MM: <flinch>
GC: cute.
MM: Thanks.
GC: I didn't mean that in a good way.
MM: oh.
GC: Anyway, why are you just sitting there? You know what today is don't you Melissa?
MM: Hudson's birthday, yes I know. <mutter> between the two of you I have only been reminded 10,000 times now.
*note: in fairness Hudson only actually reminded the bard one time about her impending birthday -it went something like: "Sweet Mother of Hestia, Melissa! Please don't let her get me what she got Hercules for his birthday."
*note to Hudson: while the bard promised to do her darndest to honor this birthday wish, we suggest you keep your family and friends away from the punch bowl for awhile....better to be safe than SURPRISED where Callisto is concerned.
GC: That's right it's Hudson's birthday. I hope you are planning something a little more special than one of those stupid ASCII cards you are always making.
MM: <blank stare>
GC: Don't look at me like that, you know what I mean.
MM: Anyway I was planning to throw her a little Cyber-Party.
GC: A cyber party? But what if she thinks we're, I mean you're...well you know...a little weird.
MM: Just act naturally and maybe she won't notice.
GC: <whistle> how's that?
MM: Perfect.
GC: So who are you inviting?
MM: You know - the Usual Suspects.
GC: <Big Evil Grin>
MM: no, not Keyser Soze.
GC: <rats>
MM: <picks up the phone> Let's see what she's up to before we make any solid plans.
<<<ring ring>>>
HL: <sleeping>
<<<ring ring>>>
GC: Why the phone? Why don't you just go wake her up yourself?
MM: because I'm not....<suddenly finds herself standing in Hudson's bedroom still wearing her Smokey the Bear Pj's>...dressed.
Luckily -for Hudson at least - she wasn't home....however....
GC: hey look it's Little Hercules.
MM: No that's just Griffen.
GC: <blank stare>
MM: Hudson's Chihuahua.
GC: <blank stare>
MM: you know - Yo quiero Taco Bell.
GC: Do I look like room service? Get your own damn Taco Bell.
MM: No I mean it's...oh never mind, just forget it....
Griffen: *bark*
GC: hey rats don't bark.
MM: pure genius.
GC: thanks
MM: I didn't mean that in a good way.
GC: oh. HEY!
MM: <suppressed grin> anyway Hudson's off Clubbing at the Med.
GC: <Big Evil Grin><grabs the bard's shoulder and transports to Hudson's Hotel room> <looks around disappointed> I don't see any clubs?
HL: <opens her eyes to see - one scantily clad blood thirsty warrior Goddess and one irritating bard in footie Pjs standing over her> <blink> Really? F**k, I'm still alive!
GC: <pops the bard in the back of the head> watch your mouth.
MM: but I didn't....
GC: <arching an eyebrow>
MM: sorry Goddess. <oh you're going to pay Leick, you're going to pay>
GC: pay like what? I swear bard, sometimes you make no sense at all.
*disclaimer: we apologize to Ms Leick but the bard is easily amused and no matter how many times she throws that little pun out it cracks her up...oh sure it was cute Leick the...hey stop that...<eye roll>...as we were saying, it was cute LIKE the first 5, 6 hundred times but it's wearing a little thin by now.
HL: what are you two doing here anyway? I was having a perfectly lovely dream about Gary Oldman.
MM: Dracula?
HL: Ludwig VonBeethoven, if you must know.
GC: *cough*
MM: We're here to celebrate your birthday.
HL: oh, that. Uhm, hang on a sec. <makes a phone call> <whispering>
GC: who are you talking to?
HL: <waves the Goddess off> <whispering becomes more animated>
*speaker phone "magically" turns on*
GC: <whistle>
Debbie's voice: <mutter> President my ass - all of the work and none of the power.
MM: <snicker> It's like you're a glorified bard.
Debbie: take that back.
*phone goes dead*
HL: <damn> well look ladies, I'd love to stay and chat but I really gotta get going <crawls out of bed and begins slowly backing toward the door>
MM: Hold it right there Hot Rod.
HL:<that's it mother, no more talking to the press for you>
Some where back in The States, Hudson's mother mumbles under her breath: "That's what she thinks. Snub me on Mother's day will you..."
MM: Goddess.
HL: hey! Get out of my stuff.
GC: <reading Hudson's mail>
Dear Heidi...
GC: Heidi? <giggle> what kind of name is Heidi?
HL: <blank stare> oh like Callisto is a real winner.
GC: <blank stare>
MM: you brought all your stuff with you to Casa Blanca? Why?
HL: you have to ask? <glances toward Callisto>
GC: <reading a transcript from on-line chat session> you ate a raw egg?
HL: <nods>
GC: freak.
MM: Now if that's not the pot calling the kettle Formica, I don't kn...
GC & HL: shut up bard.
GC: <picking up a CD> What's this? Dead Can Dance? I like the sound of that.
MM: It's not what you think.
GC: Oh
HL: Gimme that. <snags the CD from Callisto>
GC: <reading interview> Fighting is like dancing? <blank stare> Obviously you aren't doing it right. Here let me show you. <grabs Hudson by the arm>
MM: No Goddess, wait!
GC: <pause> You're right bard, what as I thinking? You be Xena. <grabs Melissa by the arm>
MM: Uhm...on second thought, you go ahead Hudson.
HL: Yeah, right.
MM: ohhh...kay...then you be the Goddess.
*thwap*
Well they were wrong about one thing, she can knock the skin off pudding.
MM: Was the demonstration really necessary....<pudding dripping off her face>
HL & GC: <giggle>
MM: <mumble> Great - so now they bond.
HL: So who are you inviting to this Shindig anyway?
GC: <grin> Shin-dig?
MM: it's not what you think.
GC: <frown>
MM: Anyway - not that Aleph woman she just yammers on and on about water and rebirth - bor-ring. *yawn*
GC: Watch this Hudson. Hey Bard, say possesseth.
MM: you know I can't.
GC: DO IT!
MM: posseth..po..posseseth..
GC: <giggle>
MM: Bite me Goddess.
Well that was a mistake....and a rather large one we are afraid.
*CHOMP*
MM: <whimper>
GC: oh you know you like it.
MM: <blood trickling from her ear> <blank stare>
GC: how about we invite that Liz Friedman woman?
HL: I am about more than just Xena: Warrior Princess, you know.
MM: That reminds me - can I get an autograph?
HL: Sure.
MM: No I mean from the talking car.
HL: bard.
MM: actor.
GC: You don't seem to get it, do you? You've won. All these years I've spent living to destroy you, thinking that only if I could give you the same pain that you gave me, I'd be rid of it. And life would go on. And then I do... and nothing changes. I don't feel better. Just empty.
HL: <blank stare> uhm, is she a little...
MM: misunderstood? Yes. But that little speech just means she's hungry. The Goddess is nothing if not melodramatic.
GC: And we're not having any of that Tofu crap either.
HL: <scowl>
GC: ok but I'm putting Mayonnaise all over mine.
HL: freak.
GC: actress.
HL: That's it - out.
MM & GC: <eyes widen>
HL: You two barge in here at 4:45 AM, wearing...what is that? Smoky the Bear Pajama's? And some sort of dominatrix gear - which, by the way, I'm not *even* going to go into - and then you start going through my stuff, making fun of my name, and insulting my diet. Just who do you think you are?!
MM & GC: your fans.
HL: *heavy sigh* Why don't you just make me one of them ASCII cards and we'll call it a day.

GC: Same time next year?
Wow! We had more responses to this newsletter question than to any other question we have posted so far. Because we did have so many great responses, and we couldn't possibly include them all, I ended up putting everyone's answers in a stack and picking the responses randomly. If your answer isn't one of the ones listed it's *not* because it wasn't good enough to include, simply that there just wasn't enough room to list them all.
Thanks to everyone who stopped by the HLOFCWS' Newsletter Page at: http://www.hudsonleickfan.com/newsletter.shtml and answered the following question.
Question: Thinking back over all the movies you've seen, which *one* move and in what role would you have liked to have seen Hudson?
The number 1 movie that people wanted to see Hudson in was "Batman Returns" as "Catwoman". The second most frequent answer was the movie "Alien" as "Ripley". We also had quite a few people who wanted to see Hudson in "Titanic" as "Rose", "The Long Kiss Goodnight" as "Samantha" and the movie "Scream", in that order.

Michelle Pfifer as "Catwoman" - Batman Returns
Here are some of the other responses:
From: [esidoti@uillinois.edu]
Answer: The Witches of Eastwick, with Jack Nicholson. Hudson would have
matched up well with the other actresses and played one of these wronged
women extremely well.
From: [sansker@prodigy.net]
Answer: "The Fifth Element" as Milla Jovovich's character. The
part of the 5th element required a combination of beautiful and tough,
which I think is the perfect mix for Hudson Leick to play, because she
seems to have those attributes herself.
From: [Worwa@aol.com]
Answer: Hudson would've been awesome playing the part of Kathryn Trummel
in Basic Instinct. The part that Sharon Stone played. I can totally see
Hudson playing that part as it was a great movie. Hudson does an awesome
job playing the bad girl, especially Callisto!
From: [RivenIV@aol.com]
Answer: I would have loved to have seen Hudson play the role of Madeleine
in Interview with the Vampire, starring Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise. She would
be a magnificent vampire. I hear Anne Rice is coming out with a sequel
to her movie. Maybe that's something to look into! Don't forget I told
you about it!
From: [ab678@acorn.net]
Answer: I would have loved to have seen Hudson in the Carl Sagan movie
"Contact". She would have a made a great "Ellie".
From: [dynayellow@yahoo.com]
Answer: This may seem an odd choice, but I think it would be a scream to
have seen her play "Ash" in the Evil Dead movies. There are very
few actors, I think, who could pull off Ash's attitude with believability,
and I think Hudson is one of them. I can hear her now: "All right...
who's next? Who wants some?"
From: [PSGribosky@aol.com]
Answer: Joan of Arc (1948). Hudson would play Joan, of course.
From: [pharaohs@cyberhighway.net]
Answer: Clive Barker's Lord of Illusions as Mrs. Swann.
From: [ges333@aol.com]
Answer: I have to put my favorite actress in my favorite movie - Annie
in Field of Dreams. Ease my pain!
From: [2oracle@worldnet.att.net]
Answer: as Judy Robinson in Lost in Space. Heather Gramn was Ok but she
is no Hudson.
From: [tara@tronet.de]
Answer: L.A. Confidential In the role of Kim Basinger (sorry, but I don't
know the characters name)!
From: [Tracer80@aol.com]
Answer: La Femme Nikita-the English version
From: [jmxavier@voyager.co.nz]
Answer: While Hudson would kick butt as Ripley in "Aliens", I
would rather see her take on Meg Ryan's role in "When Harry Met Sally",
as I don't think I've ever seen her do comedy. Should prove most interesting.
From: [heresy@voicenet.com]
Answer: I would have liked to have seen her as Mia Wallace from "Pulp
Fiction," because the manner in which Hudson acts in conventions and
appearances is strangely similar to Mia's own quirky, fun personality.
I got the idea after seeing Hudson playing Liz in "Yes Virginia..."
wearing the short black hair. After that, it seemed easy to imagine her
doing the "twist" with John Travolta at Jack Rabbit Slim's! ;-)
From: [jknow473@aol.com]
Answer: I would have liked to seen her in Bette Davis' part in "Whatever
Happened to Baby Jane". It a great film, both Hudson and Davis have
the crazy eyes.
From: [sangsaric@earthlink.net]
Answer: I imagine Hudson in the Eva Marie Saint part in North by Northwest.
Maybe for a twist she could catch Cary Grant in the last scene, saving
him from plummeting off Mt. Rushmore, instead of vice versa.

Theodorus looked around the campsite and spotted his Queen sitting just at the edge of the forrest. She sat atop a fallen log, sharpening her sword with a white stone. The expression on her face, and the far-away look in her eyes told Theodorus that she had sunk deep in thought ...
He didn't want to disturb her. Partly because he cared for her, and partly because doing so could have a bad effect on his health. Nevertheless, the army needed to move. They had been out here too long, and their position had been discovered by the King's men. Everything was set, but Theodorus couldn't give the order to go ... only she could do that.
Slowly, step by step, Theodorus moved closer to his Queen. He made sure to make a lot of noise, so that his presence would surely be detected by her. Not that she wouldn't detect him even if he tried to sneak up to her, but he felt it was the best, and safest, thing to do. Finally, as he came within a meter of the sitting woman, he noticed that she wasn't just thinking. She had a sad look on her face, one that almost broke his heart simply by looking at it. It was still early morning, and although she was a very strong woman, Theodorus had spotted her with a similar look from time to time. He knew it meant she had been thinking of, or had dreamt about her family. So much pain ... Yet, there was something different, the sadness seemed more profound, almost as if she had lost something even deeper.
"Callisto ... " Theodorus said softly, almost afraid to interrupt her musings. She had so far ignored him completely, although by now she must have known he was there.
At first, she didn't even respond, so Theodorus tried again: "My Queen ..."
Finally, slowly, she looked up at him. She still had that far-away look in her eyes though. To Theodorus, it seemed as if she wasn't really seeing him, instead looking at some imaginary image just a few meters beyond him. As such, it surprised him when she did reply.
"Theodorus ... " She began. "Do you ever have bad dreams ?"
She already knew he had. He had told her about his childhood. His mother had died early, and had left him alone with a drunk and abusive father. When he was about twelve years old, he found out his father had gambled all their money away. He found out the hard way ... when five men came to his house and brutally beat his father to his death. Theodorus was much older, wiser, and not to mention stronger now, but still ... even thinking about that moment chilled his very soul.
"Yes, my Queen. I have. " he replied, not sure what she was getting at.
Callisto seemed to let go of the ghost images she was staring at and turned her gaze to him. "Suppose you had the chance to make sure you never dreamt that dream again, would you take it ?"
What was she getting at ? Theodorus had no idea. Maybe this was another one of her mental games, or maybe ... maybe it was something else. Theodorus figured the best thing to do, the only thing in fact, was to be honest. He thought about her question, and replied: "I'm not sure, actually. I think I would."
Callisto nodded, and her gaze seemed to move away to infinity again. Nevertheless, she still continued her cryptic sayings: "I did, ... and I did."
Theodorus wasn't sure what to do next. She was ignoring him again. He knew he should walk away, come back another time when it was safer to be around her. Problem was, he cared about her too much to walk away now. Instead, he took a risk, and asked: "Do you want to talk about it ?"
If she had drawn her sword and had ran him through right then and there, it wouldn't have surprised Theodorus at all. What did surprise him though, was that she did absolutely nothing. Nothing at all. Confused, Theodorus waited a while, then turned around to leave. At exactly that moment, she began talking ...
"I encountered a very special woman two days ago ... " she began. Just five days ago, she had woken up in the morning, walked over to him and had told him she was going to go away for a while. After that, she had jumped on her horse and driven off. It wasn't until yesterday that Theodorus had seen her again ...
"This woman. She claimed to be a witch. Claimed to possess magical powers. I didn't really think much of it, until I returned to her village on my way back, and overheard a story from one of the townspeople ... " It dawned on Theodorus that she wasn't talking to him, but was actually talking more to herself. In fact, she looked very much like a person that was telling a story to her pet dog or cat, knowing fully well that the animal would not be able to understand or respond to the story anyway.
"The villager's story got to me. He told about how ever since his wife died, he had been having these dreams. Dreams in which he was with her, in which he was happy. But at the end of every dream, he had to watch her die again, and each time, it broke his heart."
Theodorus nodded, but doubted she had even noticed.
"The villager, unable to deal with his dreams, had visited this witch, and told her about his problem. She had told him to sit still, while she cast some sort of spell on him. An hour later, after completing a ritual or something, the man walked out of there again. He claimed that ever since that day, he had never dreamt that particular dream again. That the witch had cured him of his nightmares."
Finally, Theodorus started to understand what she was getting at.
"I visited the witch later that day, and forced her to perform the same ritual on me. She warned me that I should think this through, that there are dangers, but I ignored her sayings. Ever since my family was killed, I have dreamt about them. Every night, the same nightmare returns. Every night, the pain returns."
She suddenly stopped talking. After a minute of silence, Theodorus started getting impatient. Curiosity got the better of him, and he dared to ask the question: "Did it work ?"
Callisto turned her head to look at him, almost as if she had forgotten he was there. After staring at him for a few seconds, she replied: "Yes ... Yes, it did." Her reply was simple, but seemed laced with a million additional meanings, none of which Theodorus understood.
So instead, he smiled, and said: "I'm happy for you." He was just about to walk away again, when he heard her voice ...
"You don't understand."
He turned around, and looked at her. For maybe the first time all morning, she was looking at him as well.
"My Queen ?" he asked.
"I was a fool Theodorus. I ignored the warnings."
"I don't understand." Theodorus said. All caution was gone. Right now, he cared about her, and her only. If she'd kill him for that, then so be it.
"So anxious was I to get rid of my dreams, get rid of my pain, that I forget one single thing."
Theodorus' mind was racing, but he simply couldn't keep up: "My Queen, please ... " he began, but she interrupted him.
"My dreams, my memories, even my pain. It's the only thing I have left of my family. The only time I can ever see their faces. The only time I can ever hear their voices. The only time I can ever hear them say they love me."
'No.' Theodorus' mind started screaming as he was starting to understand ...
"Now, where there was once their faces, there is nothing. Where their was once their voices, there is silence. Without the dreams to keep my memories alive, it's all starting to fade. Each time I think about my mother's face, it has lost a little of it's detail. Each time I remember my sister, I have more and more difficulties remembering her voice ... "
"No." Theodorus said, his desperate plea no longer being contained by his soul ..
"I've lost them. Theodorus."
"I've lost them again."

Disclaimer: All questions and answers were done so with tongue planted firmly in cheek. These questions were a direct take off of many of the ones found at Barron's site [http://barron.simplenet.com] under his Xena FAQ.
IF CALLISTO FOUGHT HERCULES, WHO WOULD WIN? Unfortunately Hercules. But there's a great stipulation in Callisto's contract that allows her the best one - liners before he somehow miraculously pummels her into - well actually the only way Herc ever wins is by leaving her someplace or throwing her through interdimensional rips.
IF CALLISTO FOUGHT ARES, WHO WOULD WIN? Depends. If it is a Hurk with Xena episode - likely Ares will appear to win. Even given the stipulation from above which allows her the best one - liners. Ares will still somehow miraculously beat her or dismiss her with a darkly brooding wave of his buff arm. If it is a Charcoal girl representing some evil force - then Callisto - and with only a few good lines. There may be a win to one liner ratio that has yet to be fully calculated, but somewhere out there an algorithm is being put to good use.
IF CALLISTO ATTACKED GABRIELLE, WHAT WOULD HAPPEN? Gabrielle would forgive her and Xena would be sore in the morning.
WHAT'S UP WITH CALLISTO'S HAIR? In the wild, one doesn't ask a lion - what's up with that mane and expect to have a face left. Anything else?
WHAT GIVES WITH THE BASIC BLACK OUTFIT? It is a timeless color scheme - this is an important consideration for an immortal.
CALLISTO JUST SEEMS MISUNDERSTOOD, DO YOU THINK SHE IS LIKE A SOURPATCH CANDY AND SWEET ON THE INSIDE? But how long can you really suck on one of those?
OKAY, WHY DOESN'T CALLISTO EVER KNOW NOT TO GO IN CAVES OR NEAR LOOSE ROCK? Some would say that the focal point of all her obsession, Xena, distracts her from noticing such things. Others would point out that Xena is a bit of a one trick pony with the falling rocks on Gods idea. There is a little known myth about the weakness of Gods, apparently tricking them to stand beneath landslides and or in caves was sufficient to negate their godly powers. This was actually why the Gods couldn't interfere in the Trojan War. It had nothing to do with Zeus's decree, Troy was in very rocky terrain.
WHAT DOES "CKXA" MEAN? A common delusion among Callisto fans is that Callisto actually kicks Xena's A-- ahem. Often, in the presence of Callistonians, many abbreviations are tossed about that may confuse a run of the mill Xenite (like there is such a thing) But here's a simple piece of Internet knowledge from Barron..."If anyone ever uses an abbreviation you don't recognize they are trying to insult you and you are expected to flame them at once. In keeping with that, Barron thinks you are a completely degenerate reprobate for even asking this question! "
WHY DID CALLISTO KILL PERDICUS? She was looking to give the perfect wedding gift to the Warrior Princess and the Bard.
WHY DOES CALLISTO LISTEN TO HOPE AND NOT JUST KICK HER BUTT? She always wanted a child. Especially one that knew how to play 'little Hercules - run away'
WHY DID CALLISTO KILL STRIFE? This is beginning to sound like a Convention...<smile> Ok, because he took the basic black thing too far.
WHAT ARE CALLISTO FANS CALLED ANYWAY? Psychopaths? No, no, no. Callisto...ites? Callistolite - which is not actually a new alcohol free beer on the market but does rhyme with stalagtite - wait that would be a bad thing - given Callisto's history with caves. (thanks Silk) Maybe Callistonian?
WHAT ARE HUDSON LEICK FANS CALLED? Hudsonite or Leickables. Hudsonite is not the brand name of any sort of luggage that can withstand the beating of a gorilla. However, it has been said at some Cons Hudson herself has been known to withstand hours of the same question asked in several hundred variations. Leickables, while it sounds a bit like the Untouchables, do not wear fedora's and sneer. They are actually easily identified by the Haze <grin>
WHAT HAPPENED TO CALLISTO'S SISTER IN ARMAGEDDON NOW? There are many Callisto fans that have sought long and hard for the answer to that - and the answer is both horrifying and strangely empty.
OH PLEEEEEASE.... Alright. Let's begin by giving you a solid grounding in Hegellian Dialectical Theory, Pragmatic Deconstruction and Intergender Political Dynamics on Sexuality...
I CHANGED MY MIND Thanks for the tip Barron <wink>.
WHAT DOES ARGO DO WHEN CALLISTO IS IN AN EPISODE? Several days before Callisto's arrival, Argo's biorhtyms are adjusted, Xena uses pressure points to relax the steed and henbane is slipped into her hay. This method has been proven to be most effective so they can deny that Callisto was ever around. However, despite this proven method, Argo is still skittish around water skins for some time afterwards.
CAN I STEAL SOME OF THE BITCHIN' GRAPHICS FROM BARRON'S PAGE? His response: "Well, technically I don't think I can stop you. Unfortunately, there is no HTML tag that will automatically crash your browser when you load one of my images. I'll bet there is one in JAVA though. In fact, I'm convinced that any bit of JAVA code will crash my browser. I think it was coded by Mormons."
WHEN WILL THE LOVELY AND TALENTED BAT MORDA PUT CALLISTO AS THE FOCAL POINT OF HER LATEST EPIC? Indeed, this is a question that has plagued many followers of the blond in black leather with a scream heard from Amthipolis to Potedia. Begging beseeching and otherwise whining seem to prove ineffective. Check the entrails of a small animal, Bat is not likely there nor will it help but you might win points with Callisto for random violence.

To Leick With Love
Not long ago
She came.
Callisto entered my life
And you did too.
Two women
A fiery warrioress
A fiery actress
One gracefully viscious
One visciously graceful
Two poles to one world
In which many lived and thrived
Escaping the day to day
Same old torture
A world of realized dreams,
A beautiful goddess,
And of course a mere mortal
Who taught the world
The little people count,
Exemplified courage and ability,
And most of all created something
To admire and look up
With unparalleled skill and selflessness.
Callisto's oblivion
Only ends a chapter
Of the epic that can only befit you
I thank you and read on.
Best of luck in your future endeavors. -Darth Skeye (Michael Moussourakis)

The Story begins:
Also at the set of X:WP the comeback of the most popular German pop duo aroused some topics of conversation. During a shooting pause you could hear the following conversation: (R = Renee O'Connor, L = Lucy Lawless, H = Hudson Leick)
L: "<groan, lounge> Ohh, you are just used to so much action that you feel really bored during the shooting pauses!"
ROC who is just enjoying the sun and by that tries not to loose her hard earned brownness takes off her sunglasses and answers.
R: "Well, I think it is also good to do nothing sometimes!"
L: "I just can't sit there quietly. Come on Renee tell my some merry
tale of your youth."
R: "Uhhh, a merry tale of my youth???...<pondering>...there's
nothing coming to mind so spontaneously."
Hudson joins the two.
H: "That's no wonder when you're coming from Texas. There's
not much more than dust." (This is not meant as an insult to anybody
coming from Texas ;), remark by the author)
R: "Hey, no insults, yeah!!"
Lucy tries to get the two old quarrelers away from each other by turning on the radio. There you can hear a song with the following text: "You're my heart, you're my soul, I'll keep it shining everywhere I go. You're my heart, you're my soul, I'll be holding you forever stay with you together...." (now comes the high sung part, squeak).
R: "Wow, he can sing really high!!"
L: "Maybe someone stepped on the tail of a cat...<evil grins>."
H: "This is nothing unusual. The castrate-choir is practicing this
for a long time."
R: "Castrate-choir?? Who should that be??"
H: "Girl, you've got no hunch of nothing...<shaking her head desperately>...the
BeeGees are meant with that, it's kind of a nickname for them!!"
L: "You've got to admit that it's not a nice one..<grins>...but
seriously, somehow this song sounds familiar."
H: "You're right, I think it is from the 80's."
L: "Yeah right...what was the name of this band???"
R: "Monkey Bloating??"
H: "What for an idiotic name should that be!!! No, they definitely
haven't had that name!!"
R: <still a bit cross> "Always you think you know it better,
you pert goat."
L: "Calm down you two, you won't have a row just because of such a
trifle."
R & H: "Oh, yes, we will!!!!!!!"
Before the two can touch each other Lucy throws herself settling between them. Finally she manages it that Renee and Hudson calm down again.
L "That's much better!!"
Suddenly Rob Tapert strolls past the little group of women.
L: "Ahhhem, honey, could you just come here for a moment!!"
Rob: <submissive>: "Yes, my sweety pie!!"
L: "We have a little musical problem. Just listen to that music which
is on the radio at the moment. I think this group comes from Europe and
you know a lot about Europe, too. Can you remember their name??"
Rob: "Hmmm, I think, they had some hits during the 80's."
H: <it's all getting on her nerves> "Yeah, we already know that!!"
Rob: "Relax, you're not in front of the camera...<grins>. I
think they're from good old Germany."
L: "Yes, that can be right. But what was their name??"
Rob: <you can see clouds appearing over his head> "...I've lost
it."
Also Ted Raimi joins the group.
T: "What's up???"
L: "Do you know the name of this group??"
T: "Well, these are Renee O'Connor, Hudson Leick, Robert Tapert and
you are..."
L: "...I meant the MUSICAL group you can momentary hear on the radio!!!"
T: "Ah, well, then just say that. Aehmmm, know them from the 80's."
H: "YES, for the third time!!"
T: "Don't always be so nettled. Yeah, now I've got it, that is Rex
Guildo with his band...the orthopedic underpants!!"
R: "What a baloney!!!! Firstly his name is GUILDO Horn, secondly he
sings German and not English, like this group here, and besides the name
of his band is "the orthopedic socks"!!!! Somehow the role of
Joxer seems to influence you."
T: "I only take my role very serious...<turning up his nose>!!"
H: <threatening> "I will immediately take mine veeeery serious,
too!!!"
T: "That's enough, I know when I have to go...Philistines!!"
Completely consternated he walks away.
H: "Uh, man, now I am almost sorry for him."
R: "Do not think 'bout it, not everybody can be as patiently and understanding
like ME!"
L: "Won't you now stop that!! At the moment we are NOT shooting. Behave
like that, please."
R & H: <hesitating> "...well, ok.
Bruce Campbell now gets into the conversation, too.
B: "I've listened a bit to you and I think this group has the
name 'Model Train'."
L: "Noooo, that sounds wrong, too. This name would be better for a
children's group <grins>."
R: "Though they sing in the right pitch for that name <grins>"
B: "But I think they had another hit, its name was 'Jerusalems Caravan'."
Rob: "Wasn't it 'Jeremias Cardigan"??
L: "Mhhhhh...no hunch. But there was this other hit...something with
Mon Cherrie, I suppose."
H: "Maybe they're sponsored by Ferrero <grins>."
R: "Haven't they also sung a song about Troja???"
H: "No! That was about Atlantis..."
R: "And again you want to know it better, now it's enough!!!
Both tumble on each other and...exactly in that moment the song is over (odd, originally the song does not last that long??? ;))) and the radio presenter can be heard: "Heh, have you recognized them???"
All: "NO!!!!! Now finally tell us who that was!!"
Presenter: "If you know it, call and win a superb prize!!"
All: "A superb prize, we've got to join in!!
Now all jump towards the telephone but Hudson grabs it as first. Fast she dials the number the presenter appointed but the line is busy. She tries again, but it's busy.
Presenter: "We have our winner. His prize is a set of original autograph cards from the actors of the serial 'Xena: Warrior Princess'."
All: "What!!! Such a cheat."
L: "And what's the group's name now??"
Presenter: "Ah yes, here's the solution to our question. The group's
name is...
All are sitting strained in front of the radio..Renee can't stop chewing her finger-nails.
Presenter: "...MODERN TALKING!!!"
All: "Ah, they were it, I knew that right from the start!!!"
Will there really be a prize or was that only a fake?? Will Renee have some of her finger-nails left?? Will Ted recover?? Will the high singing of Dieter Bohlen and Thomas Anders leave any damages to the eardrums of our favorites (and especially to Hudson ;))??
Who may know that, more or maybe something completely different next time...
Editors Comment: Many thanks to Hawk, one of Hudson's many German fans. With the language differences, I know this was very difficult for him to do. Good job! :)

GG: I think she's yummier than the last time.
E: <peering closer> Yes, I think you're right. How does she DO that?
GG: It's the belly button. <Callisto burns up a village while

Isn't that the CUTEST? Rewind this part.
GG: Melissa!
MM: What!??
GG: Rewind this part would ya?
MM: <rewinding> You know, in case you haven't noticed, I'm the Goddess' remote control. You think I'll just show up and play remote for just anyone?
E&GG: Well…yeah.
<The Goddess arrives in (guess what) a ball of fire>
E: <quickly lowering the fireproof shield over the television and putting on her best innocent look> Hey Goddess. What's up?
GC: The temperature, if you don't tell me what you're up to right now. You're watching that…that fake, Hudson who thinks she can impersonate Me. Aren't you? <The Goddess' hand is glowing in a dangerous way>
GG: Well…um…
GC: <Glow>
E: Yes, Goddess, we were. <hanging head>
GC: I knew it! <smack>
GG: <from up against the wall> Hey! Why me?
GC: You didn't speak up fast enough. I don't get it. This is MY village, I'm supposed to control EVERYTHING. And everywhere I go, all I hear about is Hudson, Hudson, Hudson!! What is so great about her anyway?
E: <thinking> 'Marcia, Marcia, Marcia…'
GC: <smack> I heard that stupid.
E: <from next to Geek against the wall> Sorry Goddess.
GC: Now I'm sick of hearing about this Hudson chick. What's so great about her anyway? <GC flicks her thumb and a little flame dances on the tip> You two, figure out why she's taking so much attention away from the abject worship of ME. If you impress me, then we might not have roasted lapdog with Eph sauce around the campfire tonight.
E&GG: Yes Goddess. <running away>
LATER:
<Geek and Eph are on the street, camera in hand, ready to interview passers by for their report>
GG: Eph?
E: Yeah?
GG: Push record.
E: I'm getting to it! <fiddling with buttons till a red light comes on> Ok, we're ready. Let's go.
GG: We're here in New Cirra, far away from any falling rocks or highly flammable items, to tell just what it is we love about the delightful Hudson Leick. Unfortunately we only have 8 hours of tape so let's get right to it.
Love - love is such a singular word that encompasses so much - the breadth depth and width immeasurable yet still we use that word to give some scope to the magnitude of the feeling. Hudson as a person there are only fleeting glimpses - Hudson as an actress brings incredible depth and translation of feelings to her characters. Hudson as a pop icon is a true 'woman for the 90's. Hudson, a woman who greets and graciously acknowledges her fans on so many occasions. Trying to elucidate all the intangible things that make Hudson so...Hudson is like trying to catch mercury running quicksilver along a glass surface. It is like trying to deconstruct the human genome project in 5 words or less. The admiration, praise, wonder, humor, quirkiness, joy and everything else just is - like Plato's Forms - outside time and space as something complete in and of itself. Like Meno's Paradox, it cannot be described because we don't know what it is but if we saw it, would we know that that was the IT we were looking for. Hudson just is someone who is inspiring and inspired. A genuine person who seems like she has a wicked sense of humor (important news) and an understanding of the folly and fleeting nature of this mortal coil. Hudson is...Real in a surreal profession. Nice in a very giving way. Sweet without being saccharin. Strong without being bitter. Warmly attentive…
E: Geek!
GG: Yeah?
E: She's an actor not a cup of coffee. We only have 8 hours of tape. Let's go ask some other people ok?
GG: <pouting> Ok.
<Cut to Amy Putnam, photographer>
Amy: I'm new to the haze. My intro was at Burbank '98 when I had the great fortune to room with ephany and geek, queens and leaders in all things haze related. And I had a brief few seconds to meet Hudson herself. Before that, when she was on stage, I was impressed with her mix of irreverence and reverence, honesty and playing with the crowd. When I later had the opportunity to have a picture taken with her, I saw firsthand just how real she is...how engaged she is with her fans. That takes a lot of energy and true character and that really impressed me. I understood the Haze... and it made me into a true fan. Go Hudson-may all good things happen in your life and career!
OMXe..er..(censored): Hudson is honest and intelligent and warm and friendly and loves what she does and is serious about her job and she ain't afraid of that subtext, baby!
Silk: Hudson seems to have a drive, chutzpa, a fire within her. If she sees something she goes for it. Also, I find it interesting that even though she has a lot of pain in her past (regarding high school), that's she uses focuses that anger and uses it to 'create' Callisto. Lastly, I like how Hudson loves to play with her fans. <smirk> She seems to get just as much out of the experience as we do.
A Bard of the Goddess, who for safety reasons, wished to remain anonymous: Oh jeez, they all took my answers. So I'm gonna have to go with...
· She has an air of integrity about her that I find most
refreshing.
· She's honest and forthright.
· I love her social consciousness and her understanding of the cruelties,
joys, and absurdities of life.
· Her wit - amazing sense of humor - one might say odd. ;-) and....
Matt- an Oddity Twin of unknown number: Ok, the "Odd" comment is right on the mark, Twin O Mine :D She's "real." But not in that fake teen angst way people say others are "real." She's just at all times natural. She makes dumb jokes in front of crowds, she goes that extra mile for fans who want "just one more" picture or a quick smooch. She's shown us her vulnerable side, her angry side, her centered side and a part of herself that is open to adventure.
GG: So you're saying she's "the most" right?
Matt: You betcha!
GG: So there, you have it. ...various diverse opinions from right here in the heart of Hazeland. But we have just one more person who must be heard on the subject. <reaching for the camera> Come on Eph, gimme the camera. It's your turn.
E: Who me?
GG: Duh
E: Oh no, I couldn't. I'm shy.
GG: <producing three con's worth of photographic evidence to the contrary> I don't think so. Now go on.
E: Oh all right. How much tape do we have left?
GG: Um…maybe an hour.
E: Ok, well I'll try to keep it short…
When I first saw Hudson at the first ever DoN convention, it was obvious that she was just a tad overwhelmed by our um....enthusiastic greeting. She was kind of like a deer in headlights, which was very cute. But it didn't take her long to get over it...and once she figured out that she pretty much owned us...we were goners. I loved her. I loved the way she was just SOOOOOOO FLIRTY!!!!! But I was also more than a bit intimidated at first. I had actually almost literally run into her as I was going into the bathroom and she was coming out. All I registered was "Callisto's" face inches from mine and it made me jump! LOL Then she was gone before I could do or say anything. When I went to ask my first question (my first and only "legitimate" good little fan question) I could barely talk. And she just kept LOOKING right at me, boy was that annoying. I mean, how was I supposed to make sentences? But I somehow stammered out a question about what it was like to play the DoN (she hated it, as everyone should know by now). She thought she didn't do a very good job and I told her that I thought she was great. In other words, I was a complete idiot. Totally Hazed before I even knew what the Haze was! <G> As playful as she was, I could also tell there was a real and genuine person underneath all that playfulness and it was crystal clear just how appreciative she is of her fans. I was impressed with the total focus she gives to each person she talks to. When I went through the autograph line I thought long and hard about what I could say to redeem my gibbering in the question line and also make a better impression in the hope that she just might remember me. So I let Ted sign something...and then I looked her in the eye and said, "I don't know what to say to you except, THANK YOU for killing Perdicus!" And it worked! I made her laugh, Whoo Hoo!!! I asked if I could shake her hand, so she did. And then signed my picture with that wild signature of hers. She could've been a doctor. <G>
Later, she got tired of sitting, she got up and started posing for pictures and I got the first of a few great photo opportunities. I always make my name tags with the pictures I get with her and they're a great hit. This last one from Burbank98 was the best. <G> And the last thing I learned about Hudson at that first con, was what a trooper she is. Even though she gets tired, she sticks it out until every last person has an autograph AND takes pictures too! I don't know how long she'll be able to keep doing that but it sure does show her love for her fans. Since then I've read many interviews, chats and articles and I always find something new to like. Hudson's not afraid to tell it like it is. She shares the kinds of personal high school traumas that the rest of us would like to forget because it might help someone else get through it. She's ambitious and driven but she doesn't put other people down to try to make herself look better. She's…exquisitely <g> generous with her praise. She's smart enough to enjoy the journey. She listens to Sweet Honey & the Rock. <smile> She gives really great hugs!
GG: Eph…
E: She's got that really cute little belly button…
GG: Eph!
E: What, can't you see I'm on a roll here?
GG: We're running out of tape.
E: Oh. Ok, I'll wrap it up. I guess the best note to end on, is quote from Hudson, that speaks for itself: "…I try to feel good about what I'm doing at all times, because who you are is much more important that what you're doing."
GG: And, that's a wrap! <POOF! The Goddess arrives in (do I have to say it?) a ball of fire>
GC: Time's up and this better be good!
GG: It's fabulous!
E: It's wonderful. Here you go Goddess. <handing over the tape> After you watch this, you're going to love Hudson just as much as we do!
GC: Yeah, whatever.
8 HOURS LATER…. <Ephany and Geek are in a complete Haze stupor, having watched 8 hours of 'why we love Hudson' interviews, interspersed with yummy footage from several DoN:WP episodes>
E&GG: <SIGH> Wow…
E: Well Goddess? Isn't she great?
GC: <blank stare> I still don't get it. <The Goddess looks at Eph and Geek and her hand begins to glow in a dangerous way>
GG: <pointing> Hey look, are those falling rocks?
GC: What!!?? <turning in a panic to check above and behind her> <While the Goddess is distracted Geek and Eph run for their lives… but not before grabbing the Haze tape>
E: Whew! Close. What should we do now?
GG: Come on, I've got a VCR in hidden in my cave. Let's go watch it again. <smile> End

My web page has a detailed biographies on each of the three main actresses on the show Xena: Warrior Princess. (Hudson Leick, Lucy Lawless, Renee O'Connor) It also contains over 50 links to other very well done Xena related pages. I have a photo gallery I am just starting, character information, air dates, games and fan quizzes, Fan fiction, quotes that Cut, Interviews and much more!
I am totally devoted to the best show/actresses on earth! ;) And I have had a number of other Xena Pages but I took all of them down except for this one because it was hard keeping 4 pages up and running correctly.
Question: How did you first discover Hudson Leick and what compelled you to start a Hudson Leick/Callisto Web Site/Page?
Answer: I discovered Hudson Leick on that Hijacked movie. I wasn't to sure who she was at first until I saw her as Callisto on XWP. After that I was hooked, I knew I had to find out everything I could and since I am on the WWW a lot looking at other sites I wanted to make a web page. When I watched XWP I decided right then and there I would make a great Xena Site devoted to my three new favorite actresses.

The best way to describe my site is a mixture between the "All Things Hudson" site, and the HLOFC site. It is like "All Things Hudson because it focuses not only on Callisto, but also Hudson's other work. It is like the HLOFC site because it is simple to use. It also puts different links around Hudson's Picture. The Realm (as called for short) is run by me and my friends. It is unique in the fact that it is a site run by a group of students who meet once a week and discuss Hudson and her work. However, other than it's history, it's not much different than other sites. The only other difference is that it does have a mailing list that lets people know more about the site, and Hudson.
Question: How did you first discover Hudson Leick and what compelled you to start a Hudson Leick/Callisto Web Site/Page?
Answer: The first time I saw Hudson was in the Xena: Warrior Princess episode, "The Return of Callisto." At the time, however, I was younger and scared to death of Callisto. I remember seeing her on the television and just shivering with fright. I also remember being awake all that night in fear of Callisto. It wasn't until I was older that I really noticed Hudson. I first started to get to like Callisto in the episode "Ten little Warlords." At the time, unfortunately, I still didn't know who Hudson was. The episode that really got me hooked was the episode "The Bitter-Suite." I'm not sure if it was the hair or not, but right then I realized that Callisto wasn't that bad. She was just driven by anger. That night, I got on the Internet and looked up Callisto. That's when I found out who Hudson was. I finally found her name by looking on the site "All Things Hudson." I started looking at some of the other work that Hudson did, and, over time, became a huge fan of hers. During my travels on the Internet, I found the HLOFC. While looking at the sites, I decided that I, too, could create a web page expressing my fondness of Hudson. I asked some of my friends over who I knew enjoyed Callisto as well. We decided to call it the Hudson Leick/Callisto Realm because we knew that Hudson rules and figured to make it a site that symbolizes her being the best out of the other actresses, hence the name the Realm.

There are many Callisto pictures and an episode guide for Armageddon Now and Maternal Instincts. Oh, and I "stole" a few (only a few) Hudson pictures from the HLOFC web site
You can change between the languages English and German. And it is possible to register to my new Callisto Mailing List. The page is not big but I guess, it's ok!
Question: How did you first discover Hudson Leick and what compelled you to start a Hudson Leick/Callisto Web Site/Page?
Answer: I saw her first time in "Callisto". She played so well, that the first I thought was, that her hatred looks so real! I guess, she made a very good job and after I read the Axcess article, I know that her hatred sometimes IS real! But I hope she never get mad in reality (just kidding).
In addition to this I have to say, that she is really very beautiful, but I believe, everybody knows that...
I made the page, because I wanted to demonstrate that there are surely people in Europe which like Hudson too!

It's a page about Amazons, not just the Xena version, but all mighty women of fantasy and science fiction. These are women that all little girls should view as heroines, instead of Snow White or Barbie. Currently, I sport Firestar, Callisto, Tank Girl, Wonder Woman, Artemis, Velma and Daria, with more to come in the future (Xena, Gabrielle, Ephiny, Aeon Flux, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Polgara the Sorceress and other similar Characters).
Learn the layman's view of Amazons and Feminism.
Question: How did you first discover Hudson Leick and what compelled you to start a Hudson Leick/Callisto Web Site/Page?
Answer: I first saw Hudson on Melrose Place, and thought to myself, this woman's as good as Heather Locklear. Why is she wasting her time on this show? I saw her on Xena, and recognized her. The Callisto character was incredible, portrayed with such darkness and rage that it made me shudder. The Xena genre always turns out stupid if the actors aren't having fun with it, and their acting usually gives the show a comic edge and that's what makes it great. Hudson, however, took all the comedy out of the show, and it still worked. The entire cast of Xena is talented, and so are the writers, but Hudson exemplifies talent. Very few episodes have the darkness besides the ones with Hudson, and those ones are the best.
I started a Callisto section on my web page for three reasons. First, because I think that she deserves more than she has right now (yes, I know there are a billion of them). Second, because of my friends. A lot of them have been hurt by people, and don't steel themselves up so that they won't be hurt again. Eventually, the opportunity to learn from their mistakes is going to be gone and they'll be instinctively bitter. Most of my friends also think that asserting themselves is a bad thing, and I don't believe in that. Callisto is the MOST assertive character in the universe. While her actions are undeniably evil, her dialogues with Xena and Gabrielle about morality are wonderful. I also think that she's the example of what you'll become if you DON'T assert yourself or learn from your mistakes while you have the chance.

My website is one of the "originals", so to speak. I'm 17 right now, and the ever-present high school projects keep me from working on this page as much as I'd like. As often as I get to update it, it contains an up to date filmography on Hudson, a few articles which she has been in (one which will be finished tonight -see http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Set/4350/article1.html). It also contains a photo gallery, a small sound gallery, a chat room, a soon to be updated list of links, and coming very soon, the much delayed, yet awaited transcript from the Valley Forge convention. I am continually updating and experimenting with HTML, in order to make as user friendly of a site as possible, no matter what type of Internet connection the user has.
Question: How did you first discover Hudson Leick and what compelled you to start a Hudson Leick/Callisto Web Site/Page?
Answer: How I got "Hooked on Hudson"... hmmm. A bit of a story it is, actually... I would have to say that I was attracted to her at first because of her looks. I still remember the first preview I saw of "Callisto" on the week before it first aired. I thought, "Whoa, that looks pretty cool." Seeing as I was a fan of the shows since the first TV movies of Hercules were aired, and I watch both shows religiously, I was sure to catch it the next week.
When I thought about it the following week, waiting for my dose of Herc and Xena, I remembered that woman that was going to be on Xena. At first I thought she was just going to be another "Xena babe" as I had called them, because Renaissance seems to have an art for hiring beautiful women to put on their shows.
Anyhow, Saturday came, and I watched. I kept looking at Callisto, as I didn't know Hudson's name at the time, and I said to myself, "She looks a lot like my friend..." My friend, coincidentally, who resembles Hudson very much, is the girl that I had fallen in love with quite some time ago. So, no need to say, I became entranced by Hudson, after her first appearance. I was glad I had taped it... lol
Seeing as at the time I had a 1992 Tandy Sensation, with a 386enhanced processor, with 25mhz, and a 100MB hard drive, I could hardly do squat on my computer. It took forever to run AOL, but at least it could run it. I searched the Internet as slow as it was at the time, for Callisto, under every search engine I could find. To my dismay, I found only things about one of the moons around Jupiter... lol.
Then, the next week, I found a page... I was so relieved! I don't remember what it was called, but all it had was a picture of her, and a small description of the episode. And I had finally found out her name. I was pretty happy. And then, looking at Tom's Callisto page (Xenafan.com) I looked through the pictures list under the episode "Callisto", and there it was! The first good picture I found on the Internet of Hudson (posted on my page- http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Set/4350/Calst1.jpg ). Needless to say I printed it out, and it's still on my wall (with a few others now). Then it was just a matter of time until more and more pictures became available, and the character made another appearance. Then there were the ingredients to a web page... As time went on, it had less and less to do with the person who Hudson resembled, because she had proven herself to be a totally accomplished actress for the roles she portrayed. I even went so far as to go to the Valley Forge convention in October, and even got to tell her it was my "Goal in life" to get my picture taken with her... hehe, perhaps that was a little exaggerated, but it was definitely THE happiest day in my life. The picture is framed on my wall.
The rest is pretty simple history... Hudson became so much more popular, and my site started getting a bunch of hits. It was soon that I was getting comments like "your page is just plain bad ass cool!" and "This is, by far, the best Callisto website that I have visited so far." The comments made about the page that I made gives me all the more inspiration to keep it up. As for now, I am experimenting with Photoshop to make my page a bit more visually pleasing.
I can only hope that Hudson brings more to viewers, as I know her fans will never grow tired of her. I'm proud to be a fan from the beginning, and I look forward to being a fan in the future. And with the exposure she is receiving, I'm sure that I will be for a long time to come.

I started my website since I love villains. Hudson Leick plays Callisto so when she became a god it was just natural to open a Temple to her, but someone unfortunately beat me to it. I try to find great sites to mine and I am always at work on my websites. There should be more sites dedicated to the greek (pagan) traditions. I believe that Hudson is one of the most beautiful women I have seen + she was born in Cincinnati as was I + her B-day is May 9th mine is May 19th. Cool or what!
There are many many people that I am personally grateful to for all their help, hard work and contributions to the HLOFC. Without each and every person's support and assistance the HLOFC would not be where it is today, and I want everyone to know how much I appreciate them.
But, there is one person in particular who I would like to especially thank for her never-ending support, enthusiasm, energy (and boy, does she sure have *a lot* of that...hahaha) and willingness to help out with whatever I may ask.
I first met this person about this same time last year, when I was contacted by her asking if the HLOFC had anything of Hudson's that we could donate for the auction being held at the Denver Xena Fest, which she was helping to coordinate. I offered to donate one of my own autographed Hudson photos, because I didn't have anything else, but this person said, "No, that's okay. I'll go ahead and donate my one and only autographed picture of Hudson for the auction, since I'm going to be there, anyway. But, I certainly *don't* want to give up my autographed picture to someone else, so I'll just have to out-bid everyone else to get it back." Which is exactly what she did. She donated her own autographed picture of Hudson for the auction and then had to out-bid everyone else (which, as I recall, was about $50.00) to buy back her own photo. Now, that's what I call *dedication* and a true Hudson Fan!
Since that first encounter, this person has done numerous things and made many contributions to myself and the HLOFC. Whenever there is a XenaFest being held, anywhere, this person offers to send flyers, HLOFC cards, display items for a booth and countless other things to help promote Hudson and the HLOFC. Always at her own expense in both time and money. And she usually does it with very little advance notice. Sometimes we don't get notified of these events until the last minute, but she is always willing to quickly get things together and send them off to the requested event.
If you were one of those lucky people to attend the '98 Burbank convention, and see the first ever HLOFC booth, (which was pretty incredible from what I have heard and the pictures that I have seen) the majority of that was made possible by this person's contributions. Not only was the HLOFC booth a "knock-out", but the standees of Hudson that this person made were fantastic! The full size standee was even auctioned off for a considerable donation to charity.
Whenever I ask for her help, not only does she say, "No problem, I'll take care of that right away", but then proceeds to ask me if I need or want anything else? And I know that whatever she says she will do, she does. And I don't have to worry about it getting done.
I could go on and on, as this person has given so much of herself and her time by doing so many things, but I think you pretty much get the idea. This is a truly astounding and wonderful person, who has gone above and beyond, time and time again, and we are *very* lucky to have her as a HLOFC member.
I am totally beholden to you, Dyann aka Geekgrrl, and want you to know how much I so appreciate everything that you have done. You're a sweetheart...Luv Ya, Geek! Thanks for EVERYTHING! :)
